Community service Grade 7A and 7B

On 15th December 2016, students of Grade 7 were taken to Welfare of stray dogs located at Lower Parel, as a part of their community service. The Welfare of Stray Dogs is a Mumbai-based organization working to eradicate rabies and control the street-dog population in a humane, scientific way. Since 1989, they have been carrying out a mass sterilization programme for stray dogs, following the recommendations of the World Health Organization on rabies eradication and dog population control.

Students of 7A left at 9.30 a.m. and came back at 11.45 a.m. by buses (teachers who accompanied them were Ms. Prema, Ms. Vineeta and Ms. Aparna) and students of 7B visited the place from 10.30 a.m. to 12.45 p.m. (accompanied by Ms. Renu and Ms. Shruti). Students visited the kennels where stray dogs were kept. They took a walk with dogs and played with the cats in the premises of WSD. Some fed the dogs biscuits and also gave the dogs a bath. They handed over newspapers, biscuits and some dog food they had brought for the stray dogs, to the caretakers at WSD. They were truly sensitized towards animal care and welfare and also showed a keen interest to adopt them. They came back with fond memories of the place.
