The Cambridge Lower Secondary Programme is a framework for educational success for students approximately 11 – 14 years old. It builds on the Primary Stage develops children’s knowledge and skills in Mathematics, English and Science and is integrated with other curricula.

The Lower Secondary Programme also offers schools a means of tracking student progress through the lower secondary phase, with an integrated package of teaching, learning and assessment tools. The Programme also provides excellent preparation for students embarking on the IGCSE course.

Cambridge International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) offers a flexible course of study to pupils and gives the freedom to choose subjects that are right for them, whilst providing a broad knowledge base and lifelong skills. Within the curriculum there is a balanced mix of practical experience and theoretical knowledge.

"Educating the mind without educating the heart is no education at all"
- Aristotle

For all of us at Aditya Birla World Academy, the word ‘school’ is synonymous with an abode where children can be their true selves, a place where they are happy and look forward to return to each day. Our classrooms are safe spaces where students can engage in meaningful conversation to find new approaches to their learning.

A vigorous in-house curriculum based on the Cambridge Secondary 1 Programme has been meticulously developed for the Middle School. In alignment with our ethos of an ‘International School with an Indian soul’, it is infused with an essence of our rich Indian culture, tradition and history set against a global landscape. The emphasis is on developing the ability and the skill to think critically about a range of global issues from different perspectives.

All through secondary school, we encourage student collaboration to foster deeper understanding and cultivate lifelong skills. Teachers are empowered with best professional practices and are well equipped to design a learning environment of the 21st century. The accent is on building skills so as to help students succeed in a knowledge-based environment. A strong skill set forms a robust foundation for the IGCSE. At the IGCSE, we offer an array of twenty subjects from which students are free to select nine to study through Grades 9 & 10.While a study in these subject areas nourishes the mind and sharpens the intellect, the Sports Programme offered at school which includes football, cricket, athletics, chess, table tennis and basketball to name a few, nourishes the body. The host of Extra and Co-Curricular Activities provided at school which range from music, drama and creative writing to kick-boxing and film animation are aimed at developing well-rounded personalities.

We are a value-driven school, the fulcrum of which hinges on the emotional well-being of each and every child under our care. Teen Time classes in middle school are meticulously crafted so as to prepare students to tackle difficult and sensitive issues that are a part and parcel of their student life. The advisory that runs through the entire secondary and high school is designed with the understanding that a caring relationship with people around a child is of prime importance to the child’s healthy development. Ethics in a classroom are sacrosanct and we are always on the lookout to find new ways to elicit the right responses from students to classroom dilemmas.

The ethos of our school is best portrayed in the words of Kahlil Gibran on Teaching:
He says:

"No man can reveal to you aught but that which already lies half asleep in the dawning of your knowledge. If he is indeed wise he does not bid you to enter the house of his wisdom, but rather leads you to the threshold of your own mind."
