In the scenario of a pandemic, I realize how many of my students miss their regular art face-to-face classes as we all transition to online learning, but is it the same?
Is it possible to teach art online because it is such a skill-based subject? What exactly does online learning necessarily involve? In this blog, I'll try to answer all of these questions and give you a glimpse of how we at Aditya Birla World Academy are keeping the creative juices flowing as we teach drawing and painting online to our students.

It's Not the Same
Online learning is unquestionably distinctive from face-to-face learning; it necessitates more independent learning, individually tailored learning, and certain technological literacy skills. It's a good idea to avoid expecting the same learning experience from a different format, however the Teachers and our aspiring artists stay unaffected and try and ensure the possibility of a successful and enjoyable experience.
There Are Some Advantages
Although you may not get the 'Art room vibe,' there are several advantages
to online learning, like flexibility, improved IT skills, and the
cultivation of independent study skills.
I've been to a number of webinars with art educators from all over the
world who have used the online platform to discuss their experiences, and
the majority of them have come to appreciate the flexibility of teaching
this manner. This online forum has also brought to light a part of our
students that they were unable to show within the confines of the school.
Another advantage is the diverse group of people you can meet online, as
well as how students from all over the world come together to enrich and
diversify the experience.

How about enriching and equipping oneself?
Although there are many tools online now, including forums full of amateur painters who share their work and offer suggestions and guidance, an online school is unique. Why? Thriving on a course provides structure and access to a skilled and experienced educator; take into account that even though they are miles and miles away, they still have the skills and knowledge you benefited from in the Art room.
When moving to an online platform, this was something everyone pondered about: does the educator have topic knowledge and teaching expertise, including the comfort and compatibility with the technological abilities required?
Whether online or offline, the Aditya Birla World Academy's Art Team has been effective in presenting Art education in a way that students can understand and gain desired skills as per their age group.

Is it necessary for an Art Educator/ Student to spend all of their time in front of a screen?
There will be some screen time, but drawing and painting are still art forms, and the subject lends itself to offline project work. You'll probably spend the majority of your time working on projects rather than on a computer.
You'll connect online to share your discoveries, engage with classmates and the teacher, and keep track of your progress. You'll also have access to activities, videos, and website links because you'll be online. Art is not a subject that requires you to make something on a computer, unless it is digital art.
I'm sure there are many Art warriors out there who, like us, have felt vulnerable while switching to the Online Teaching learning platform. To cultivate and foster our emerging artists, we simply need to have trust and believe in our areas of competence.
