The first ever ‘Buy Nothing Week’ was conducted by our learners of grade 3 to examine the issue of over-consumption. The learners filled the ‘Buy Nothing Week’ log each day, and by the end of the week they participated in a class discussion which was connected to their ongoing theme,
‘Natural Resources’. It was an interactive session that enabled them to think about the relative privilege they have of possessing too many things. The most significant thought,
‘Nature gives us enough for our needs but it would be wrong to keep using these resources excessively for our never ending wants’, was the central idea of the Green Cell activity conducted by grade 3 learners.
