In addition to the academic rigour, a key focus in the later years is to prepare students for the next stage of their lives. To this end, we believe that college counselling is a process and not a product. ABWA provides access to an independent team of counsellors who advise students on career choices as well as college applications. We begin career guidance as early as Grade 8 to help students follow their dreams and passions.
ABWA is the first choice as an international school in Mumbai for most parents as the well-being of our students is always our first priority. We believe that in order for learners to reach their full potential they need to feel safe, valued and respected in their learning environment. Thus, their pastoral care is at the centre of the school’s ethos. Our counselling approach is preventive as well as responsive. In order to maintain a space of continuous social-emotional learning, the team undertakes whole school activities such as Failure Week, Happiness Week and Global School Play Day. Our student-centric initiatives such as Anti-Bullying Squad, Mental Health Champions, Connect 101 Mentoring Programme and interactive workshops help enhance our learners’ Social, Emotional Learning skills and mindful behaviour. To further support student well-being, we run the Minds Matter Curriculum, which is grounded in the Four Quadrants of Positive Psychology, Social Psychology, Social Emotional Learning (SEL) and Mental Health Awareness. The school counsellors follow a time-tabled weekly session, across grades 1 to 12, to deliver the curriculum.
