How can students apply for ABWA's A-level courses after the 10th?

“Your life is your story, and the adventure ahead of you is the journey to fulfill your own purpose and potential.” – Kerry Washington

Have you planned what to do after 10th. How about A-Level course after 10th?

Higher Secondary is a critical juncture in a student's life, as they prepare to carve their niche in a fiercely competitive and unpredictable world. In today’s ever-changing world, we require not only intellect but also a dynamic and confident personality.

At Aditya Birla World Academy, we empower the students to pursue their interests and become active learners within a framework that provides a sound, conceptual and connected education.

The students are provided with the option of continuing their international education after Grade 10. To facilitate this, we offer the IB Diploma Programme and the Cambridge A-Level programme. Both the curricula encourage students to be internationally-minded, to think critically, and challenge assumptions within today's complex and well-connected world.

Out of the International schools in Mumbai, the A-Level Programme at Aditya Birla World Academy is distinctive in more than one way. It aims at providing pupils with life-long learning skills, enabling them to view their competencies as well as their aspirations objectively. The syllabuses help learners develop a deep understanding of subjects, as well as independent learning and critical thinking skills. Importance of analytical and evaluation skills is highly valued. The goal is to develop learners who are confident, responsible innovative, engaged, and reflective; these are the five Cambridge Learner Attributes.

While academics form the core of this rigorous, challenging, and stimulating programme, we have infused significant components into the programme to make education more relevant and meaningful. In addition to studying academic subjects, students at the A-Level are also part of the Internship Programme which is aimed at providing students with an opportunity to apply what they have learned in class to a workplace setting. International exposure through various competitions, visits, and student exchange programs is directed towards broadening horizons. The Student Social Responsibility (SSR) Programme is intended to sensitize our children and make them aware of their social obligations through community service. The career counsellors at ABWA follow a personalized approach to the student’s academic and career counselling, encouraging each one to step out of their comfort zone via various engagements such as regular workshops, internship tie-ups, and project opportunities. The extracurricular and co-curricular activities form the base of experiential and holistic learning. This makes ABWA one of the best A-Level schools in Mumbai .

The Apt Choice:

Cambridge International AS and A Levels provide excellent preparation for university, employment, and life. The interdisciplinary nature of the curriculum ensures that the subjects are not taught in isolation. Students are not only encouraged to delve deeply into their chosen set of subjects but also think critically about the interconnectedness and complexity of the world.

The following points may be kept in mind to know your right fit of subjects.

  1. Interest in the chosen subject.

  2. If you have a particular career, job, or further study in mind, you may need to choose specific A levels in order to meet entry requirements.

  3. How open do you want to keep your future study and career choices?

Out of the plethora of subjects offered by the Board, ABWA offers the following subjects at the A-Level. The students need to select any 4 subjects from each subject band of the below list that they would choose as their subjects of study at the AS and A-Levels.

Admission Requirements:

At ABWA, the application process for Gr. 11 commences in Mid-July. The school conducts an orientation for all Gr. 10 internal, as well as external parents and students in the month of July. During this session, the specifics of the programs are shared to enable and equip the students to make an informed choice. The process helps the students to explore both the curricula in detail and match them to the temperament and interests of every child very efficiently.

This is followed by an online application along with the submission of the relevant documents. The Transcripts, Letters of Recommendation, and Achievements form part of the documents to be submitted. Thereafter, applicants appear for Online Entrance Tests in English, Mathematics, and the chosen Sciences. Finally, shortlisted candidates are invited for family interaction. ABWA has a Merit Scholarship Program which is available for students seeking admission into Grade 11. It is given to meritorious and exceptional students for the two years of the IB DP / A-Level programme. A well-defined criterion is laid down based on the academic track record, and performance at the Aditya Birla World Academy Entrance Test for those who could avail of this scholarship program.

A unique experience specific to ABWA out of all the A-Level schools in Mumbai is the Academia and Industry session, which is part of our Pre-IB and Pre-A Level sessions that helps the students to gain exposure to the experts and professionals from different fields. Such events enable students to establish connections with the world outside the classroom and develop a better understanding of the demands of work life. The students are encouraged to be themselves, explore their interests, discover their strengths, and find the confidence to succeed in the world beyond ABWA. Our admissions process looks at the character of a child academically and socially to make sure that every student passing out of the precincts of ABWA is a complete individual, ready to face the world and meet the challenges of ever-changing global environments.
